FitzGibbon, Marjorie
Born in 1930, Marjorie Fitzgibbon was an Irish-American artist and actress. Growing up in California, she left the family home to pursue an acting career in LA. It was here that she studied painting at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. In the late sixties she moved to Ireland with her husband Constantine Fitzgibbon, eventually settling in Dublin.
After a trip to Greece in 1967 Marjorie became interested in sculpture and began sculpting heads of prominent Irish literary figures. Her first exhibition was held at The Brown Thomas Gallery, Dublin in 1970. One of her most recognisable works is a statue of James Joyce on North Earl Street, Dublin.
Marjorie passed away in 2018 at the age of 87.
